Screening and In-processing
Screening and in-processing of QCPD-PSJLC formally started on May 5, 2009 with an entrance exam. A total of 90 applicants took the written examination. While the entrance examination had been discontinued in regular PPSC courses, QCPD deemed it necessary to conduct it to have an objective basis in screening and paring the numerous applicants. Not everyone cannot be accomodated in the course due to limited classroom capacity.
Before the examinations, a short overview of the course was given to ensure that the applicants know what to expect once they are admitted to the course.

Only 70 were initially marked as passed with the rest advised to either wait for the next course or take the same at PPSC or PNTI. To further narrow down the list and to also comply with the PPSC admission requirement of blood screening of applicants which included the Hepa A, B, and C tests, plus the AIDS test, QCPD requested its partner, the Quezon City Red Cross to conduct the tests, FOR FREE. As an ex-deal, all qualified applicants were required to donate blood. A total of 35 bags were collected that day by the Red Cross team headed by Dr. Lorenzo. The drug test, blood screening, and blood letting activity was conducted on May 28, 2009 at the QCPD Library. Course Coordinate PCINSP NICOLAS D TORRE III led the blood donors.

The drug test was also conducted on the same day by a team from QCPD Crime Laboratory supervised by their Chief, PSUPT Dr. Mon Porciuncula.

JLC at Informatics
June 13 and 14, 2009 (Saturday and Sunday) are Computer Literacy Classes at Informatics International College Diliman, North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Informatics International College Diliman conducted the computer literacy subject to the 55 students of QCPD-PSJLC at a very minimal cost. The package was Microsoft Office for Personal Productivity that normally costs P 2,800 per student, well beyond the reach of the regular course budget. Considering that this is a non-revenue generating activity for the School, the class was scheduled on a weekend so as not to disrupt its normal operations.
The course started with a simple opening ceremony at 0730 hrs, June 13, 2009. The class was then divided into four groups according to their starting level of proficiency. Each group was then assigned to a laboratory to meet the 1-to-1 student-to-computer standard ratio of the school. For the next two days, QCPD-PSJLC students underwent a rigid hands-on experience under the competent coaching and instruction of the following Informatics instructors:
1. Robert Rocio Jr.
2. Glen Alvergei Cruz
3. Richard Evangelista
4. Ronnel Agulto
5. Alex Moico
6. Jason Lars Neri
Topics discussed were:
1. Basic Computer Operations and PC Troubleshooting
2. Microsoft Word
3. Microsoft Powerpoint
4. Microsoft Excel
5. Internet browsing
At 1700 hrs, 14 June 2009, the course concluded with a simple Closing Ceremony where individual certificates were distributed to the students.
The overall coordinator of the activity was ENGR. INES M BASAEN, Executive Vice President, Informatics International College Diliman.
